Position Overview
The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for leading maintenance activities within the BIW environment, ensuring the reliability and performance of automotive process equipment, supporting daily operations, and driving team effectiveness to meet production and organizational goals through proactive problem-solving, effective communication & strong teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Operation and maintenance of various process equipment and building utilities in various shops.
- Establish or adjust work schedules to meet production requirements.
- Other assigned, permanent or temporary to support efficiency in operations.
- Understand and enforce process compliance throughout the process areas of scope of operations.
- Modernization and continuous improvements of responsible equipment.
- Ensures an adequate on-hand spare parts inventory or lead-time system in place to support.
- Generate proper reports and associate corrective measures on all incidents to proactively decrease the potential of future failures.
- Establish risk matrixes on critical equipment/facility status and conceptualize and implement all preventive measures to mitigate these risks proactively.
- Establish, schedule, execute and document all preventive maintenance (PM) activities on responsible equipment.
- Works with a maintenance planner to establish Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
- Performs commissioning of new systems and integrates into existing administrative controls.
- Direct activities of contractors and vendors in a manageable, effective, and cost-efficient manner.
- Works closely with all facets of the production group to provide technical expertise or assistance.
- Enforce and follow all Safety rules and regulations.
- Communicative to production groups and various internal customers as appropriate for the status of responsible equipment and effects to operations.
- Coordinate EHS safety training and schedules.
- Work with training coordinators to suggest new training courses/subjects.
- Update the key performance indicators for Facilities maintenance on our team board.
- Print out Lumen reports as needed.
- Assist Assigned as Fix administrator in modifying and/or creating work orders and PM plans.
Skills
- Knowledge of PLC’s and programming, detailed troubleshooting abilities, along with various other types of manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge in all utilities and building maintenance (electrical and mechanical)
- Knowledge of electricity, pneumatics, mechanical and other related theories, and concepts to allow for proper troubleshooting and problem analysis of their environment.
- Understanding of cranes, hoist and supporting equipment.
- Understanding of servicing chemical treatment programs and required documentation for all processes.
- Professional, informative, and responsive communication to customers.
- Be proficient in general office PC programs and equipment monitoring systems
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical associate degree (automotive manufacturing preferred).
- Minimum 2-4 years experience in BIW, maintenance department, or related role.
- Experience in maintenance management systems, executions of maintenance plans and throughput analysis.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with BIW processes and components is a plus
- Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Note there is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and must be able to wear fall hazard PPE and enter confined spaces with the appropriate training.
