Our client is looking for a motivated Environmental Project Manager to play a key role in delivering renewable energy projects across South Africa. This position offers the opportunity to manage environmental approvals from project inception through to completion while working within a collaborative and technically driven team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental permitting and EIA processes for renewable energy developments.
- Coordinate environmental consultants and specialist studies.
- Review specialist reports and ensure recommendations are incorporated into project planning.
- Prepare scopes of work and oversee project execution.
- Conduct environmental screening and site investigations.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, authorities, and project stakeholders.
- Prepare technical documentation and project reports.
- Support greenfield project development from an environmental perspective.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Management or a related discipline.
- At least five years' environmental project management experience.
- Renewable energy project experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- GIS proficiency, with QGIS experience considered advantageous.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
