What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a skilled Recycling/Sustainability Lead specializing in electrical/high voltage battery recycling, to support our process of recycling & repurposing in the market. This individual will specifically own the process & procedures for recycling within our network. Oversight of the recycling process as it pertains to the Retailers, any Volvo Cars location and any external location where Volvo battery material (pack or module) may require recovery. This position will report directly to the Head of US Battery Lifecycles Services as an extension of the global Battery Lifecycle Services team.
A Day in the life:
- Redefining the approach to recycling of the Volvo high-voltage battery materials & ownership of all procedures for battery recovery.
- Management of recycling suppliers through oversight, researching new opportunities, market efficiency & effectiveness.
- Monitoring the flow of materials in the market – Tracking the status of pickups/deliveries, coordinating packaging support, and review of material value.
- Continually strive to improve the recycling flow through assessment of transportation costs, material return value and circularity approach.
- Provide support in developing process gaps in handling of battery materials prior to routing to recycling end point(s). Ownership of global recycling reporting for the Americas market.
- Collaborate in cross-functional teams within Battery Lifecycle Services group, Product teams, Manufacturing plants and battery-related teams within Volvo Cars globally & locally.
- You will manage your working time according to the project timeline, actively gathering information from other teams & collaborating.
What you will bring to Volvo:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering (or technical related field) with 3+ years proven equivalent work experience.
- Experience in a technical position, preferably 2+ years, related to recycling/sustainability or with a recycling provider.
- General knowledge of electric vehicles, battery technology and battery material values.
- Strong background in process and procedural development.
- Advanced Microsoft Power Point and Excel skills.
- Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. (Approximately 15%)

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written presentation, and communication skills.
- An ability to work with complex topics and steer discussion at the appropriate level of detail.
- It would be beneficial to have the experience in working with projects related to high voltage vehicles/batteries. Planning, Logistics or Transport experience would be a plus.
- Ability to drive change and influence people & synthesize complex topics into easy-to-understand terms.
