MAJOR DUTIES: As a Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties: As National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Liaison to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reports to the Meteorologist-In-Charge of the National Weather Service (NWS) Operations Center. Serves as subject matter expert on NOAA products and services to FEMA leadership and other decision makers. Serves as the point of contact for high-impact weather and water events, and principal interface between NOAA and FEMA and their national and regional stakeholders. Interprets NOAA/NWS products and services to aid in mitigation and recovery and response. Collaborate and provide guidance on use of NWS and FEMA policy to National Incident Management Assistance Teams (N-IMATs). Collaborates with national agencies in identifying Impact Based Decision Support Services (IDSS) service gaps and addresses their needs. Works with NWS social scientists to better understand and communicate human, economic and environmental impacts, safety and risks. Participates in joint efforts with the Storm Prediction Center and National Hurricane Center as needed. As lead for the NWS Liaisons to FEMA - N-IMATs, incumbent will provide technical and administrative leadership, guidance, training and support to a team of two Meteorologist and Physical Scientist personnel at the GS-13 level. In this capacity, the incumbent assumes full responsibility for the timeliness and accuracy of products prepared through management of the team. The incumbent will lead policy development, review, and implementation as it pertains to IDSS requirements.
