Located in the heart of Western Sydney, Sydney Zoo strives to showcase a broad range of native and exotic animals using technology and advanced exhibit design, with a strong focus on animal welfare, conservation, and educating our visitors about animals and their habitats. Environmental and social awareness play a vital role in our message that highlights the indigenous culture and human influence on the environment.

The Position

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an exciting new zoo in the role of Gardener, utilising your skills in an area that you are genuinely passionate about. This role will commence as soon as possible and includes some weekend and public holidays.

The Gardener will be responsible for all general maintenance tasks related to the gardens, exhibits, and public areas of Sydney Zoo.

Skills, Knowledge and Relevant Experience

At least one year experience in grounds maintenance/horticultural duties.
Experienced in turf maintenance and weed identification.
Knowledge and practical experience in applying safe working procedures.
Able to meet the physical demands of the role including working outdoors in hot or inclement weather conditions.
Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as required.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to contribute and work as part of a team.
Physical ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Class C driver's license (Desirable)
ChemCert Accreditation (Desirable)
Construction Induction Card (Desirable)
