We’re looking for Transformer Technicians who are interested in starting or growing their careers working on equipment that helps keep power running across the country. In this hands-on role, you’ll travel to substations, power plants, and industrial sites to inspect, maintain, and repair power transformers. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, replace components, perform routine service, and support customers in a safety-focused environment. This is a great opportunity to build valuable skills, work on important infrastructure projects, and enjoy consistent travel-based work throughout the continental United States.
What You’ll Do:
- Assemble transformer components such as radiators, bushings, and conservators
- Perform degassing, pressure, and vacuum testing using dehydrator units
- Re-gasket units and fabricate gaskets or O-rings when needed
- Assist with teardown and preparation of transformers for transport or disposal
- Identify and resolve basic wiring and mechanical issues
- Complete assigned tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule
- Inspect and operate tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safely
- Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements when working near noise, electrical hazards, and at elevated heights
- Support the sales team by reporting project opportunities and potential customer leads
The Experience We’re Looking For:
- Up to three years of experience in transformer oil processing, service, or assembly
- At least one year of transformer testing experience (TTR, winding resistance)
- Experience changing repairing and changing gaskets, bushings and auxiliary component change outs
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and online platforms
- Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to follow instructions
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while meeting team objectives
Additional Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Availability for extended or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays
- Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights exceeding 100 feet, operate in confined spaces, and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good vision, hearing, and English proficiency to ensure safe and effective communication in noisy environments
Bonus Points for:
- Experience with transformer oil filtration, testing, or disassembly
- Possession of a Class A CDL, OSHA training, or a TWIC card
- Holding a DOT medical certification
- Familiarity with transformer components, control wiring, or oil filtration
- Experience using shop equipment, electrical tools, or test platforms
- Knowledge of transformer teardown or disposal preparation procedures
- Previous work experience with energized equipment or substations
