Our client operates one of the most unique environmental remediation facilities in Canada. They treat contaminated soil, sediment, rock, and water using a combination of chemical, physical, and thermal treatment technologies. Their work helps industrial, commercial, and infrastructure clients safely manage and remediate contaminated materials.
The Job:
You'll be responsible for helping operate a specialized treatment facility that cleans contaminated soil and water. You'll oversee plant operations, environmental compliance, equipment performance, contractors, testing programs, and process improvements while working closely with operations leadership. This is a hands-on role where you'll spend significant time in the facility working around treatment systems, heavy equipment, operators, contractors, and ongoing processing activities

What You'll Do:
- Lead day-to-day operation of soil, sediment, rock, and water treatment processes.
- Ensure the facility operates in compliance with Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs), operating approvals, permit conditions, and applicable environmental regulations.
- Supervise operators, contractors, tradespeople, and service providers working on-site.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize process performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, and process improvement projects.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, laboratories, and contractors to support maintenance activities, treatment projects, and operational improvements.
- Oversee treatability testing, environmental sampling, QA/QC programs, laboratory coordination, reporting, and operational documentation used to support treatment decisions and regulatory compliance.
- Collect operational data and contribute to KPI reporting used to evaluate facility performance, efficiency, and treatment effectiveness
What You'll Bring:
- Engineering degree, science degree, technologist diploma, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in process engineering, chemical processing, environmental treatment, industrial operations, or a related field.
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to spend time in the plant rather than behind a desk.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in an operational environment.
- Experience working within regulated industries where safety, environmental compliance, and documentation are critical.
- Ability to lead people, coordinate contractors, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with contaminated soil remediation, water treatment, chemical processing, waste management, mining, aggregates, or other heavy industrial process environments is considered an asset.
- Exposure to earthworks, construction equipment, material handling operations, or industrial treatment facilities is considered an asset.

- A consulting role focused on report writing.
