The Head – Production will lead the complete manufacturing operations of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) plant, ensuring achievement of production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets. The role is responsible for managing end-to-end production from battery module assembly, HV/LV pack assembly, rack integration, and containerized BESS assembly while driving operational excellence, automation, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement. The incumbent will play a key role in scaling production from prototype and pilot builds to high-volume commercial manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities Production Operations
- Lead end-to-end BESS manufacturing operations across:
- Battery Module Assembly
- LV & HV Pack Assembly
- Busbar & Harness Assembly
- Battery Rack Assembly
- Container Integration
- Final Testing & FAT
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Develop production plans aligned with customer demand and project schedules.
- Optimize manpower, machine utilization, and production capacity.
- Ensure adherence to takt time, cycle time, and line balancing.
Manufacturing Excellence
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and TPM initiatives.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Reduce manufacturing costs, cycle time, and production losses.
- Improve First Pass Yield (FPY) and reduce defects, rework, and scrap.
- Establish standardized work instructions and SOPs.
Plant & Production Planning
- Coordinate closely with:

- Monitor WIP inventory and optimize production flow.
- Drive capacity planning and production scheduling.

- Support prototype, pilot, and new product builds.
- Industrialize new products from engineering to production.
- Coordinate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and R&D.
- Validate production readiness before mass production.
Automation & Digital Manufacturing
- Drive automation projects across production lines.
- Utilize MES, ERP, and digital production monitoring systems.
- Implement Industry 4.0 initiatives and production analytics.
- Improve manufacturing traceability and process control.
Safety & EHS
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies.
- Maintain safe handling practices for lithium-ion batteries and high-voltage systems.
- Drive zero-accident initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety and hazardous material handling protocols.
People Leadership
- Lead production managers, supervisors, engineers, and operators.
- Build a high-performance manufacturing culture.
- Develop succession planning and technical capability.
- Conduct performance reviews and skill development programs.

Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Operations or Manufacturing is preferred.
Experience
- 15–20+ years in manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 8–10 years in leadership roles.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries:
