Sustainability Manager
Role Purpose: Lead and coordinate SBC’s sustainability strategy by embedding climate action,
circular economy, water stewardship, and community empowerment into core manufacturing and
business operations.
Reporting Line Reports directly to the Head of Sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Drive implementation of SBC’s five sustainability Strategic pillars across all plants and
operations.
Oversee ESG reporting, compliance, and alignment with frameworks (GRI, ISSB, SASB, IFC,
UNGC, TCFD etc).
Lead decarbonization initiatives (Scope 1,2 &3 emissions reduction, renewable energy
adoption and energy conservation campaigns).
Champion EMS implementation and drive environmental best practices like circular
economy practices (Sustainable waste management, EPR programs) and water stewardship
projects, ensuring efficiency and community access.
Build stakeholder partnerships with regulators, NGOs, Industry Associations and host
communities.
Drive Supply chain sustainability through audits, due diligence and trainings.
Oversee CSR in host communities across SBC CSR focus areas.
Supervise sustainability specialists, leads, champions and crossfunctional teams.
Support in enabling the business source climate finance/credits
Oversight on Environmental regulatory compliance eg EIA, ECM, Licences & permits and
monitors NESREA and other environmental MDAs regulations and mandates as pertaining to
Food & Beverage Industry.
Present sustainability performance updates to the Head of Sustainability and executive
leadership.
Beng or BSC in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field, MSc in Sustainability
related course would be an added advantage.
6–9 years’ experience in corporate sustainability and ESG leadership.
Strong knowledge of climate finance, reporting standards, and Nigerian/Global regulatory
frameworks.
Strong knowledge of EMS (ISO 14001) implementation
Proven track record in project management and stakeholder engagement
Strong knowledge of Microsoft tools for data analysis, infographics and visualization
