Summary
Located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Page, Arizona is located on the Arizona-Utah border, 135 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, the nearest larger community. Page looks out on beautiful Lake Powell which offers boating, associated water sports recreation and fishing. The surrounding land of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offers beautiful red rock country for hiking and backcountry recreational activity.
Major Duties
1. Directs Aquatic Nuisance Species prevention and containment program field operations. Organizes schedules and executes a wide variety of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS), and natural resource management projects. Plans field projects, independently choosing from among several possible courses of action at different stages of each project (e.g., selects site locations, sampling techniques, appropriate equipment, logistics, etc.). 2. Clearly and effectively communicates information related to aquatic nuisance species to the visiting public, park colleagues, and staff from park partner and permittee organizations. 3. Provides operational supervision over subordinate employees educating and advising visitors on aquatic invasive species prevention regulations, on activities that impact upon the preservation of natural and cultural resources, and on the proper and authorized used of facilities. 4. Provides administrative and technical supervision to at least 4 subordinate employees on a regular and recurring basis throughout the annual work cycle. 5. Responsible for the on-the-job safety of all employees and volunteers supervised.
