Dahlia Recruitment – Renewables are recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer based In Stafford to play a key role in delivering projects through factory testing, site acceptance, commissioning, and operational support. The primary focus of the role is to ensure systems are installed correctly, function as intended, and operate safely and reliably prior to handover.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Acceptance
- Coordinate and lead pre-FAT, FAT, and SAT activities with suppliers and project teams.
- Support preparation of test documentation and acceptance criteria where required.
- Verify equipment functionality and performance prior to delivery and installation.
- Identify defects, manage punch lists, and ensure timely resolution.
Commissioning & Start-Up
- Carry out pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Lead functional testing, loop checks, and integrated system testing on site.
- Troubleshoot issues during installation and start-up, working collaboratively with suppliers and engineering teams.
- Support performance testing and optimisation prior to handover.
- Ensure systems are safe, compliant, and ready for operation.
Project & Technical Support
- Review drawings and documentation to understand system operation and support commissioning planning.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with project managers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Provide practical feedback to engineering teams based on testing and site experience.
Service Support
- Provide technical support to the Service Department, including fault finding, diagnostics, and site interventions.
- Assist with maintenance activities, upgrades, and technical investigations where required.
- Support operational teams and clients with technical queries across installed systems.
Handover & Knowledge Capture
- Support system handover to operations or clients, including documentation and training where required.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to ongoing improvements in commissioning practices.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with HSE requirements and Bohr procedures.
- Follow permit systems, RAMS, and safe systems of work.
- Verify systems meet project and regulatory requirements prior to acceptance.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong experience with control and instrumentation systems.
- Experience performing loop checks, signal testing, and similar using industry-standard test equipment.
- Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning, servicing, or maintenance of complex systems.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control philosophies, and technical documentation.
- Practical troubleshooting and fault-finding capability across integrated systems.
- Willingness to travel and work on site as required.
Desirable
- Experience with gas systems, biomethane, hydrogen, or renewable energy infrastructure.
- Knowledge of PLCs and industrial communications.
- COMPEX, or relevant industry certifications.
- Experience working in hazardous area environments.
