What You Do
What You Do
- Lead establishment and ramp-up of environmental programs at a large, high-volume, cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation.
- Lead and manage compliance for all applicable water and wastewater permit and requirements, support on site activities that meet objects set forth by the company and Parent companies. Act as Environmental Project Manager for all project impacts on the campus of and within processes involving stormwater, wastewater, groundwater, spill prevention and response, and energy management. Lead support group objectives to meet the Environmental Management System and ISO 14001 objectives.
As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also
- Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion
- Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota
- Provide leadership and support needed to allow planned production while maintaining compliance to applicable environmental regulation through the following competencies:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with company objective to be 100% compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain and continuously improve both the stormwater and wastewater compliance program
- Maintain and continuously improve the MTM SPCC and BMP Plans
- Further establish and maintain the groundwater monitoring program
- Maintain project awareness for energy usage and kaizen opportunities
- Act as project manager for Habitat program to include correspondence, budget requirements, project reports
- Apply and Maintain outside Certifications to support the Company objectives and Performance Reporting Data (i.e., Wildlife Habitat Council Certification)
- Monitoring of production processes to confirm effectiveness of procedures and policies that have been implemented
- Work closely with facility personnel responsible for wastewater pretreatment and storm water system maintenance and operation to help them understand applicable permit/regulatory requirements
- Conduct problem solving to identify the root cause of potential problems that jeopardize compliance, and recommend solutions to potential compliance issues
- Support facility personnel to evaluate new raw materials for potential impact to the wastewater pretreatment system
- Support Environmental Team objectives to meet all applicable EPA and ADEM Reporting Deliverables
- Manage the tracking of required Environmental Training for site wide employees
- Organize and Plan Company Wide Engagement Initiatives surrounding Earth Day
- Develop Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Tracking for daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Develop agency reports
- Act as a resource to On Site Partners (OSPs) for compliance related deliverables and reportable
- Assess the impact of potential material, process or production volume changes and make recommendations to management
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local Wastewater and Storm Water regulations as well as permits that have been issued to MTM
- Be available to work outside of regular business hours to support company priorities; travel as needed (domestically and internationally
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Capacity to communicate and respond clearly, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of the organization i.e. Team Members, Executives, On-Site Partners, etc.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and local environmental agencies
- Analytical thinking, with the ability to identify gaps, root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation
What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science Technology Engineering Technology (STEM) Field or a closely related field
- 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance at a major industry (automotive preferred)
- Project management experience with capability to develop, lead and prioritize work, meet milestones, gain consensus, and report out status of projects
