On behalf of our client, Maritime Solar, a locally owned and operated Nova Scotia company that is changing the way homeowners think about solar, we are looking for Solar Advisors to join their growing team.
About Our Client:
Maritime Solar has built their reputation on honest advice, strong workmanship, and doing right by the homeowners who trust them with their homes.
That same approach carries into the way they are building their sales team.
Maritime Solar is intentionally building something different. New Solar Advisors receive hands-on training, spend time in the field with experienced leadership, attend real homeowner appointments, and learn the business alongside people who have spent years successfully selling door-to-door and closing high-value home service sales.
While this is an independent contractor opportunity, you're still part of the team. Maritime Solar regularly brings their people together through team events and experiences, including an all expenses paid company trip offered annually.
The Opportunity:
This is a true outside sales opportunity. You'll be meeting homeowners, by knocking on residential doors, starting conversations, generating leads, and eventually taking those opportunities through the full sales process.
The first several weeks are about learning, repetition, and building momentum. You'll spend time training with an experienced sales leader, watching real consultations, learning how to approach homeowners, understanding the psychology behind successful door-to-door sales, and developing the skills to close your own business eventually.
You're not expected to walk in knowing everything about solar. You are expected to put in the work required to learn it.
The earning potential is significant. Advisors earn approximately $2,500 to $4,500 per sale, with no set commission cap.
If you're consistent, competitive, and willing to build the pipeline, there is a very real opportunity to create a substantial income.
Responsibilities:
- Connect with homeowners throughout HRM through door-to-door outreach.
- Build relationships with potential customers and learn about their energy needs and goals.
- Educate homeowners on Maritime Solar's products, services, and the benefits of solar energy.
- Conduct consultations and guide interested homeowners through the sales process.
- Follow up consistently with prospective customers and manage your sales pipeline.
- Maintain accurate information and regularly communicate with the Maritime Solar team.
- Represent Maritime Solar professionally in the community.
Requirements
- Previous sales, customer service, business development, or other customer-facing experience is considered an asset.
- Comfortable with door-to-door outreach and speaking directly with homeowners.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
- Comfortable travelling throughout HRM.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
- Coachable, dependable, and motivated by performance-based earnings.
- Must be located in Canada and permanently eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
A Note About the Schedule:
As an independent contractor, you'll have independence in how you manage your time. That said, successful door-to-door sales happen when homeowners are actually home.
Late afternoons and evenings are prime selling hours, and new Advisors should be prepared to consistently work from 2pm-8pm daily during those periods while developing their pipeline. The first 30 days in particular require a strong commitment to training, getting into the field, having conversations, and building repetition.
There is flexibility, but this isn't a role that can realistically be built around daytime hours alone.
Benefits
- $2,500 to $4,500 commission per sale.
- Significant earning potential with no set commission cap.
- During the initial ramp-up period, Advisors who generate 10 qualified leads may be eligible for an advance of up to $2,500 against future commissions.
- Hands-on training with an experienced sales leader who has spent years building and leading successful door-to-door sales teams.
- In-field coaching, including opportunities to attend real homeowner appointments and learn the sales process firsthand.
- Leadership support on early qualified appointments while you develop your closing skills.
- Team events and opportunities to connect with the broader Maritime Solar team.
- Company trip planned for winter 2026.
- Independent contractor opportunity.
- Travel throughout HRM is required.
