Major Duties
As a Park Ranger (Interpretation), you will perform the following duties: Exercises the full range of administrative and technical supervision for a supporting staff. Supervisory duties performed by the position 20% or less of the time. Coordinates the operation of visitor facilities, including developing daily work schedules and directing and auditing visitor services provided by lower graded employees. Manages visitor concerns and needs. Guides the learning of others through formal or informal methods. Trains, mentors, coaches, and evaluates interpretive programs and products. Develops and presents lesson plans, training sessions, developmental opportunities, and courses of curriculum. Makes logistical arrangements to support training and coaching activities. Coordinates special projects (e.g., special events, youth initiatives, teacher workshops, and regional or national committees). Drafts and/or edits project proposals, timelines, and budgets. Develops and presents formal and informal interpretive experiences delivered in-person and through interpretive media and technology. Manages interpretive materials such as signs, waysides, publications, exhibits, and audio, video, and other digital content.
