This position is in the California Water Science Center located in Eureka, California.
Major Duties
As a Supervisory Hydrologic Technician within the California Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Initiates contacts with current and potential cooperators to explain or discuss cooperator waler-resources information needs. Develops funding estimates and detailed manpower plans for accomplishing projected work and manages overall budgets and daily operations. Responsible for the supervision or field office staff. Directs the collection, correlation, synthesis, analysis, preparation, review, and presentation of hydrologic data. Operate a government owned or leased vehicle as an incidental driver. Physical Demands: Field work is often conducted in extreme conditions. In the summer the heat is often over 100F, and in the winter storms bring high water and flooding conditions. Measurements must then be made in cold wet environments which require working in small boats on high velocity streams and from bridges with moving traffic. Safety requirements for PPE can complicate environmental conditions due to their bulky nature.
