Summary
The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts. All of the duties described by this position may not exist in each location, but that should not preclude use of this position.
Major Duties
Applies health, sanitary, and mechanical principles to operate and maintain water treatment systems, including microbiological and chemical processes. Operates treatment equipment such as hypochlorinators, filters, pumps, solution tanks, and valves for both surface and well water systems. Performs maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment used in water and wastewater treatment operations. Executes a wide range of carpentry tasks, including constructing frameworks, modifying structures, installing interior/exterior finishes, and building cabinetry and countertops. Conducts electrical repairs by replacing faulty wiring and components, troubleshooting circuits, and interpreting electrical codes and technical drawings. Installs, modifies, and repairs plumbing systems and fixtures, using trade tools and techniques to ensure proper system layout, operation, and maintenance; operates heavy equipment for grading roads, clearing snow, and maintaining drainage systems.
