Summary
You will serve as a Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL) - Park Guide within the Division of Interpretation, Education, and Visitor Services. You will be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. Work schedule includes most weekends, some holidays, and occasional evenings. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Major Duties
This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). See below under Additional Information for further eligibility guidance. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Staffing information desk in a visitor center. Answering questions on a variety of subjects. Guiding small groups and providing services to visitors. Performs duties including programs that contain live demonstrations and/or audio-visual devices. Guide small parties (up to 20 people) on short walks. Perform duties including pre-established programs that require application of broad subject matter knowledge of the park. Guide large groups (up to 50 people) on longer walks or programs. Provide a wide range of services to park visitors. Present limited and repetitive pre-established talks including introductions to films, map talks, and static exhibit interpretation. Interpret Park values and interpretive themes for visitors with varying interest and backgrounds. Orient hikers and other recreation users to conditions and equipment needs.
