Position Overview
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Facilities Operations, the Director of Sustainability will lead the development and execution of a campus-wide strategic sustainability initiative, integrating sustainability throughout the campus. Ensure that the college’s sustainability efforts enhance and support the long-term interests of the college.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct sustainability efforts to ensure sustainability actions are prioritized to meet college goals. Use STARS, Campus Sustainability Plan, and Second Nature’s Presidents’ Climate Leadership Commitment framework to track College progress and benchmark against other colleges/universities.
- Lead the department in driving the college’s long-term sustainability vision, mission, and operating principles, and lead the development of a high-level strategy to support them.
- Collaborate with campus departments to support the coordinated sustainability plan.
- Develop sustainability principles into short- and long-range capital and operational improvement plans.
- Serve as an internal leader and “go-to” expert on sustainability, programs, and issues, while communicating with and educating members of the campus community.
- Evaluate energy, water, and waste data to determine savings.
- Monitor emerging trends, research new initiatives, and track Endicott's progress.
- Implement energy projects to reduce energy use, reduce carbon emissions, and save money through: efficiency in new and existing construction, renewable energy and energy markets, tracking & projections to verify results.
- Assist in energy procurement strategies.
- Manage Waste and Recycling systems to maximize recycling and ensure compliance.
- Implement other campus sustainability efforts to save water, improve and maintain gardens, and implement sustainable dining initiatives.
- Advise the activities, events, and programs of student organizations dedicated to sustainability on campus (i.e. Endicott Environmental Society, Endicott Beekeeping Club).
- Manage Office of Sustainability staff and students.
- Engage the community on and off campus, promote the College and its efforts, and maintain a comprehensive, informative web and social media presence.
- Other duties as needed to achieve the goals of the department.
Community Engagement
- Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events such as Commencement, Homecoming, and other hands-on-deck gatherings. Demonstrate a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.

Qualifications and Skills
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible budget/financial experience or related experience in a college environment preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master in applicable field preferred
- Experience working in higher education sustainability efforts
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the latest sustainability topics, trends, and strategies
- Demonstrated evidence of strategic, pragmatic, and analytical approaches to problems
- Proven ability to manage diverse projects, work with students, and work independently
- Team player who is willing to work hard
