What you’ll do
As a Senior Software Engineer (iOS) on the Digital Products team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and delivering high-quality iOS applications that power the connected vehicle experience. You will contribute to the development of customer-facing products and features, including vehicle connectivity, mapping and navigation services, EV charging experiences, vehicle purchasing journeys, and other innovative digital solutions.

In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, maintain, and release robust, scalable, and user-centric iOS applications.
- Lead Own the implementation of complex mobile features from concept through production, ensuring high standards for performance, reliability, maintainability, and security.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and cross-functional partners to deliver seamless end-to-end customer experiences.
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture discussions, and adherence to engineering best practices.
- Develop and maintain automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and regression testing, to ensure application quality and stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, proactively identifying opportunities to improve application performance and developer productivity.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends in iOS development, evaluating new tools, patterns, and approaches where they provide meaningful value.
As a senior member of the team, you will help shape contribute to technical decisions, influence engineering standards, and contribute to the long-term success of our mobile platform while delivering impactful customer-facing features.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California. .
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering shipping customer facing applications on iOS.
- Proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI
- Solid understanding of mobile platform architecture, UI/UX design principles and frameworks, GraphQL, mobile security and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps, and mobile release processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience operating in start-up settings, launching 0 to 1 product, and driving graduation to highly customized applications.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Passion for mobile technology and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building systems in the automotive industry, or experience working on IoT devices
- Experience with mobile app testing, experimentation frameworks and automation frameworks.
- Experience working with large scale cloud systems through a provider like AWS

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
Initial California base salary range = 154,000 - $187,000
