Summary
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Fish and Aquatic Conservation Region 8, Lodi Fish and Wildlife office, LODI,CALIFORNIA. The Small Craft Operator and Marine Mechanic Team plays a vital role in supporting all projects within the Lodi Fish and Wildlife Office (LFWO), with a primary focus on two collaborative programs: the Delta Juvenile Fish Monitoring Program (DJFMP) and the Enhanced Delta Smelt Monitoring (EDSM) Program.
Major Duties
At the full performance level (WG-10) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: - Inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing operational tests and repairs on diesel- and gasoline-powered marine boat engines (both outboard and inboard), stern drives, propellers, jet drives, and electrical and hydraulic systems to ensure equipment safety with an emphasis on diesel experience. - Planning, repairing, and modifying hydraulic and electric winch systems. - Installing and repairing marine machinery such as steering assemblies, power drives, and control systems in order to disassemble, repair, and rebuild components. - Using accepted trade methods and techniques of welding (TIG, MIG, AC/DC stock, Oxyacetylene), hydraulics, painting, electrical repair, and fiberglass work. - Occasionally operates navigates, dock/cast-off, and fuel inboard, outboard, and inboard/outdrive (I/O), powered vessels.
