Summary
This position is located in Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, in the Division of Interpretation. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 11 months, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
Major Duties
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Minuteman Missile National Historic Site is March-January but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Creates and provides talks and programs and guides groups at Delta-01 Launch Control Center, Delta -09 Missile Silo, and the visitor center. These talks will be detailed and specific interpretation and explanation of the sites' historic and engineering features as well as information about the military personnel who staffed these sites. Answers questions covering a wide variety of topics relating to the sites and the local area. Guiding groups will be required, dealing with visitors inside buildings, outdoors in harsh weather conditions, and in close spaces of an underground area that has physical access limitations due to the historical constraints of the site's design. Works at the visitor center providing customer services including; managing Jr. Missileer programs, conducting virtual tours at the visitor center, taking care of lost and found items, assisting with the Eastern National Book Store operations, providing area information, as well as working with a tour reservation system for the ranger guided tours the park offers. Orients and explains current park events and warns of safety hazards.
