Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Robotics Engineer to support automation initiatives within Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing operations. The role involves designing, implementing, programming, and maintaining robotic systems used in battery pack assembly, module assembly, material handling, welding, dispensing, testing, and production line automation.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in industrial robotics, PLCs, machine vision, and automated manufacturing environments, preferably in lithium-ion battery, EV battery, electronics, automotive, or energy storage industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission robotic systems for BESS manufacturing lines.
- Develop automation solutions for battery module and battery pack assembly processes.
- Integrate robots with conveyors, PLCs, SCADA systems, sensors, machine vision systems, and MES platforms.
- Optimize robotic operations for welding, screwing, dispensing, laser marking, pick-and-place, palletizing, and material handling applications.
- Conduct cycle time studies and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Troubleshoot robotic, electrical, mechanical, and automation issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with production, process engineering, quality, maintenance, and EHS teams.
- Support installation, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and ramp-up of new production lines.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules for robotic systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and battery manufacturing regulations.
- Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, validation reports, and training materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.
- 4–10 years of experience in robotics and industrial automation.
- Experience in battery manufacturing, EV manufacturing, electronics assembly, or automated production environments.
- Hands-on experience with industrial robots such as:
- ABB
- FANUC
- KUKA
- Yaskawa
- Universal Robots
- Experience with PLC programming:
- Siemens
- Allen Bradley
- Mitsubishi
- Schneider
- Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with machine vision systems and sensors.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing automation and robotics integration.
Preferred Experience
- BESS manufacturing plants.
- Lithium-ion cell, module, or pack assembly lines.
- Automated battery testing systems.
- AGV/AMR deployment in manufacturing facilities.
- Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory implementation.
- MES integration and production data analytics.
