The MYA Systems Engineering under CSE organization is seeking for a talented engineer to join us as a MYA Strategic Departures - Team Lead.
This critical position is to be filled by an engineer who has a good understanding of Gas Turbine components design and Services engineering. This person will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives associated with the MYA financial business. The person will be accountable to deliver ~$20MM backlog cost reduction SDP deliverables each year.
Responsibilities will include ownership and accountability for performing technical risk assessments and working horizontally across Design, Reliability, GT Systems, Chief Engineers Office, Performance, Repair, Product Service, MYA Risk, Digital, Application, Product Management and Customer facing teams in effectively managing the balance of risk vs. opportunity within the MYA Catalog, creating sustained value for both our customers and GEV.

- Deliver ~$20+MM/year backlog cost reduction for the MYA business by working with MYA Systems team members.
- Strategic departures project execution, cradle-to-grave, including maintain regular & broad awareness of efforts across impacted teams/functions to ensure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, and responsiveness to business needs.
- Identify pipeline of opportunities by closely working with MYA cost and productivity team, pole OTR teams, Systems, design, reliability, and fleet management.
- Optimize parts allocation and flow which could benefit the MYA business
- Support MYA cost and productivity team during margin reviews and controllership discussions Collaborate with repair team to prioritize the SDP sets data collection (BL scans, Incoming visual etc…). Partner with Repair to ensure highest priority projects are funded and executed on-time to yield positive Catalog outcomes.
- Create program charters for each SDP program and get it reviewed & approved through Chief engineers office and cross functional teams.
- Maintain awareness of the status of operating hardware, including: participation in the Departures process, closely integrating with fleet management peers on open RCAs/Issues, working closely with Reliability to ensure empirical data drives increased clarity in Catalog fallout/unplanned outage modeling.
- Identify barriers for parts approval for additional tour and develop mitigation plans to address the barriers.
- Influence cross functional teams to approve the departures through strong technical substantiation of risk.
- Decision making and measured risk-taking skills if there is lack of consensus from cross functional teams. Escalation of risk to leadership if it is worth allowing few sets to gain experience.
- Participate in Budget planning for all the cross functional teams which support SDP efforts each year Work with Vernova Research (ARC), Digital, MPE and other teams to create new tools, processes which will help to substantiate or lower the risk of departed sets.
- Support & involvement in broad company-wide initiatives in support of GEV Gas Power business objectives.
- Promote professional growth through coaching and mentoring of early-career engineers on the team.
- Develop and refine engineering processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality
- Identify opportunities for growth and innovation with continuous improvement mindset
- Ensure all solutions delivered meet the highest standards of quality and compliance
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master of Science/technology in Engineering
- Minimum of 6 years of Gas Turbine Design and/or Services engineering experience.
