Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Guest Services Team Leader will assist the Store Manager and Assistant Manager with daily operations of the Museum Gift Shop. Responsibilities include; providing exceptional customer service, shop supervision, inventory control, training and motivating staff, and maintaining accurate accounting records.
Description:
- Assists Store Manager supervise employees; including encouraging and motivating staff in sales and customer service.
- Assigns employee lunch & breaks in order to effectively manage day to day activities.
- Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing a rapport with customers.
- Ensures availability of merchandise by replenishing store stock levels daily.
- Resolves customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Assists in inventory counts, identifies shortages or surpluses and reports all discrepancies to the Manager.
- Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
- Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
- Assists with briefing all guest services staff is aware of changes at the beginning of each shift.
- Enforces program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Prepares daily store deposit and daily revenue reports. Ensures that all store accounting reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Responsible for ensuring proper PCI compliance as required by credit card regulations.
- Responsible for maintaining proper cash controls in the gift shop.
- Contributes to the team effort by striving for increased store sales while promoting awareness of the Museum and its purpose.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a high school degree or a recognized equivalent. Associates Degree or higher a plus.
- 2 – 4 years retail store experience required, supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be outgoing, personable, and friendly.
- Must love working with people.
- Must have ability effectively communicate and present information to customers, peers and all levels of management.
- Computer skills required, Excel a must!
- Flexible schedule required including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
- Must be able to stand for long period of times
- Criminal and credit check background required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid drivers license required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- 90% of the typical work day will be spent standing.
- Between 25 and 50% of the day will be spent walking, lifting, grasping, feeling and climbing, pushing, and pulling.
- Less than 25% of the day will be spent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Less than 10% of the day may be spent sitting.
- Sensory abilities required include vision, hearing and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating; talking and hearing.
- Must have visual clarity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned as well as close visual clarity to prepare, analyze data and figures and operate and view a computer.
- Majority of work will be performed within an indoor office environment. Typically work is not conducted in adverse environmental conditions.
- Noise level is considered quiet to normal.
