We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturing business for a QA Technician to join their Quality team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.
The Role
As a QA Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring food safety, product quality, and compliance with industry standards and internal procedures. You will support the Quality team by monitoring production processes, maintaining technical documentation, conducting audits, and promoting a strong food safety culture across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality systems, and company procedures.
- Complete, verify, and maintain technical and production documentation.
- Monitor food safety controls throughout production, ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, and hygiene requirements.
- Carry out CCP verification, including metal detector, sieve, and compliance checks.
- Conduct internal quality, hygiene, GMP, and foreign body audits, identifying non-conformances and supporting corrective actions.
- Arrange routine equipment calibration, maintenance activities, and cleaning schedules.
- Collect and prepare product samples for external laboratory testing.
- Deliver food safety, hygiene, GMP, allergen awareness, and SOP training to employees.
- Support customer audits and regulatory inspections by preparing documentation and ensuring product traceability.
- Monitor product changeovers, allergen controls, cleaning validation, and labelling compliance.
- Perform product quality assessments, including sensory, physical, and chemical testing.
- Ensure maintenance documentation is completed correctly before production handover.
- Promote PPE compliance, site hygiene, and a positive food safety culture.
- Review supplier documentation, Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), specifications, and audit reports.
- Provide support with new product development trials and offer cover for other team members when required.
- Assist with additional food safety and quality tasks as directed by the Quality Management team.
About You
- Previous experience in a QA, QC, or technical role within a food manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of HACCP, GMP, food safety, and quality management systems.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
- Knowledge of allergen management, traceability, and hygiene standards.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to train and support colleagues.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A Food Safety qualification and internal auditing experience would be advantageous.
