We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality &
Environment Officer to support the effective implementation, maintenance, and
continuous improvement of our Integrated Management System.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will
provide essential support to Vital Chemical’s manufacturing operations by
overseeing quality control processes, managing chemical compliance and
inventory, providing laboratory testing and technical support, and assisting
with environmental and sustainability initiatives.
This permanent part-time role (24 hours per week to be
worked over 3–4 days) operates across two sites, providing a diverse and
hands-on opportunity to support quality, compliance, environmental, and
sustainability initiatives across the business.
What You’ll Do:
Manufacturing
and Chemical Management
- Develop, review, and maintain manufacturing
procedures in line with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Hazardous Chemical Risk Assessments and
support document control, procedure updates, and workforce training.
- Collaborate with Production team to ensure
compliance with product specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Administer and maintain the Chemwatch system,
ensuring accurate chemical management records and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management,
ensuring documentation is current, accessible, and compliant with legislative
requirements.
Quality Control
- Investigate quality issues and non-conformances,
supporting corrective actions and resolution.
- Perform internal audits of production processes
and documentation.
- Support the ongoing maintenance and
effectiveness of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Laboratory
- Conduct research, evaluation, and substitution
testing of raw materials and products to support quality, safety, and
operational objectives.
- Perform quality control testing of production
batches, accurately recording and maintaining test results and batch
documentation.
- Provide technical support for research and
development activities, including product trials, validation, and continuous
improvement initiatives.
- Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and
records in accordance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Environment and Sustainability
- Monitor and manage waste tracking and disposal
activities.
- Support the identification, assessment, and
management of environmental aspects and impacts across site operations.
- Provide sustainability support to internal teams
and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to environmental compliance,
reporting, and sustainability initiatives to support organisational goals and
regulatory requirements.
About You:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a
manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or production environment.
- Qualification in Quality, Environmental
Management, Chemistry or a related field (Certificate, Diploma or equivalent
experience).
- Knowledge of hazardous chemical management and environmental
compliance requirements advantageous.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality Management
Systems) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) desirable.
- Internal Auditing experience desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
- Data analysis and reporting skills.
- Project coordination and organisational skills.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work closely with Production, Operations and Management teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Drivers licence and own transport.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and police check.
