Summary
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Southeast Region, Office of the Superintendent, Maintenance Division, Fort Ogleorpe, Georgia. The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. This position is a Full-time temporary appointment not-to-exceed one year with potential to be extended for an additional one year for a maximum of two years based on agency needs and potential funding.
Major Duties
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform all aspects of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades at journeymen level. Major Duties below but not limited to: Repairs and maintains historic buildings, government housing, support structures and buildings within accepted safety, health and sanitary conditions. Constructs, alters, modifies and/or repairs a wide range of carpentry features in buildings, quarters and other facilities. Builds small structures and replaces deteriorated sections of existing structures. Plans, computes, and lays out projects and identifies material needs. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems. Perform HVAC installation and maintenance. Perform plumbing on potable water and wastewater systems and related equipment such floats, fittings, sinks, toilets, and fixtures. Performs electrical wiring necessary to maintain existing 120- and 240-volt electrical systems and troubleshoots and repairs to 24- and 48-volt Photovoltaic power systems.
