We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in Hanover, PA!
Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist directs the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, safety, and energy management programs, with close coordination and support from the management team. Responsibilities include providing leadership and expertise to obtain company-wide excellence in environmental, health and safety (EHS), and to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Additional responsibilities include implementation, and monitoring of all EHS policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate all Safety, OSHA, ISO, and EPA compliance requirements.
- Responsible for the development and efficient management of all safety and environmental training.
- Prepares, implements, updates, and maintains company policies and procedures adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Ability to learn and manage all permits, reports, and applications for EPA. Assure conformance with federal, state, and municipal legislation and regulations regarding environmental control.
- Maintains and manages all records of hazardous and non-hazardous waste use.
- Conducts detailed investigations of existing and potential safety and health hazards and incidents making recommendations for corrective actions.
- Develop, administer, and conduct employee health and safety orientation programs
- Act as liaison for KRS with regulatory agencies. Oversees annual audits and required training.
- Manage Workers Compensation reporting and case management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Safety & Health, EH&S Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2-4 years of within the Environmental Health and Safety function preferred.
- Fluent in PA Hazardous Waste regulations and reporting preferred.
- Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and to influence.
- Highly effective written and verbal communications skills that can used with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
- Highly developed interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated highly effective platform presentation skills and training delivery skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to organize and prioritize work
- Time management skills to ensure that administrative tasks are completed
- Strong experience with Workers Compensation reporting and case management
- Organization and computer skills a must
- Knowledge of chemical/waste treatment processes would be a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally
Work Environment
- Regular on-site presence at Hanover, PA location
- Work is performed in an office environment while supporting manufacturing and industrial environment
