The Safety Coordinator supports the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental (EHS) programs within a manufacturing environment. In absence of the EHS Manager will serve as back-up. This role ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, reduces workplace risks associated with production operations, and promotes a strong safety culture on the shop floor
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator
Your main responsibilities will be:
Leads by example in regards to site safety
Maintains and updates safety boards
Experience in providing training to all levels; assist with New Hire Safety training
Lead or facilate annual trainings as required
Ensures site employees are up to date on safety training needs
Leads thorough new hire safety walkthroughs
Training experience related to Forklift, LOTO, General Safety
Fire extinguisher checks and training
Coordinates facility safety inspections
Scheduling, tracking and reporting on inspections
Ensures the facility is OSHA compliant
Following health and safety manuals
Implement periodic lock out tag-out program audits
Collect near miss, hazardous conditions and safety observations and creates report on this data
Ensure that site management follows through to ensure the situation is promptly addressed and corrective actions are developed, integrated and are sufficient to prevent future injury or illness
Accident reporting including follow up and intermediary actions and compile report for HR
Creates and maintains reports on all health and safety activities
Prepares and updates required safety plans
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Ability to sit for entirety of shift and work on computer.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift, bend, stoop and walk the production floor.
Flexibility to work overtime as requested.
Occasional off-shift or weekend support may be required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to focus on relevant work for entirety of shift.
Authorized to work for any employer in the United States
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health
OSHA 30 General Industry certification (preferred)
ASP (Associate Safety Professional) Preferred or working towards certification
First Aide/CPR/AED Certification
A person in this capacity will typically be day shift, however, may be requested to assist on other shifts as needed.
Available to address safety concerns/incidents on off-shifts
Knowledge of environmental procedures and standards
Hazardous waste training and/or DOT Hazardous Material Training (Preferred)
Knowledge Hazardous Waste Requirements
Proven knowledge of OSHA regulations
Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations
Attention to detail
Strong communication skills
MS Office experience
