The Sustainability Specialist applies specialized technical expertise in sustainability with a focus on lifecycle assessment (LCA), decarbonization, and resource efficiency. This role is responsible for delivering sustainability analyses, supporting ESG initiatives, and identifying practical solutions to improve environmental performance across projects and operations. The specialist works with moderate guidance and collaborates cross-functionally to support sustainability goals, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and international standards.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities
The Sustainability Specialist is responsible for one or more of the following disciplines (Sustainability, Environmental)
Lifecycle Assessment & Environmental Analysis:
Sustainability & Decarbonization Initiatives
- Support and implement decarbonization strategies and carbon reduction initiatives
- Identify opportunities for improving sustainability performance across engineering, procurement, and construction activities
- Contribute to sustainability improvement programs and innovation initiatives
ESG & Reporting
- Support ESG reporting activities and ensure alignment with industry frameworks and client requirements
- Provide data analysis and insights using tools such as Power BI and carbon accounting methodologies
- Contribute to enhancing ESG data management systems and reporting processes
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with internal teams including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Supply Chain to integrate sustainability considerations
- Collaborate with clients and external stakeholders on sustainability requirements and deliverables
- Coordinate with consultants or third parties for specialized sustainability assessments if required
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure alignment with international and industry standards such as:
- ISO 14040 / 14044 (LCA standards)
- Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) frameworks
- Carbon accounting and circularity methodologies
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions on sustainability tools, LCA methodologies, and ESG practices
- Promote sustainability awareness and best practices across the organization
QualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in: Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Circular economy, Embodied carbon assessment, Carbon footprinting, Resource efficiency or decarbonization projects
- Hands-on experience using SimaPro for lifecycle modelling and environmental impact analysis
- Strong knowledge of: ISO 14040 / 14044, Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), Lifecycle-based decision making
Preferred Qualifications and Education
- Experience in industries such as EPC, fabrication, energy, manufacturing, offshore, or infrastructure is preferred
- Professional certification or formal training in LCA, SimaPro, or OpenLCA, including application of ISO 14040/14044 methodologies, EPD development, embodied carbon assessment, and circularity analysis, is preferred
- Familiarity with OpenLCA, Ecoinvent database, Power BI, and carbon accounting or ESG reporting methodologies is preferred
- Experience supporting client sustainability requirements, ESG reporting, and decarbonization programs, working closely with cross-functional teams, is preferred
- Strong communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and verbal) are required
