Summary
Help preserve America's historic treasures. This position performs skilled preservation trade work to maintain, repair, restore, and preserve historic structures, buildings, monuments, and cultural landscapes. Duties include masonry, carpentry, woodcrafting, painting, roofing, gardening, and preservation servicing while applying historic preservation methods, standards, and techniques. Major Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Southeast Region, Castillo De San Marcos National Monument in Saint Augustine, FL. The major duties consist of but are not limited to: Perform a variety of preservation trade work including masonry, carpentry, wood crafting, painting, roofing, and cement finishing to repair and reconstruct historic features. Maintain and preserve historic gardens, grounds, and cultural landscapes through planting, pruning, transplanting, and related landscape maintenance activities. Operate hand tools, power tools, preservation equipment, and motor vehicles to complete preservation and maintenance projects and transport personnel, materials, and supplies. Prepare project sites, move materials, clean work areas, and perform laboring duties in support of preservation and restoration projects. Apply preservation servicing techniques and treatments to protect historic equipment, structures, and materials from deterioration and environmental damage. Read and follow work orders, plans, drawings, specifications, and historic preservation guidance to complete assigned projects. Assist with project administration by maintaining records, entering data into automated systems, purchasing materials and supplies, and supporting project compliance requirements.
