Summary

Major Duties
Duties: This position provides routine maintenance to park facilities including minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, grounds, and custodial work. Assists higher graded maintenance employees in the performance of maintenance tasks. Safety and effectively uses hand and power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain these tools properly. Park Information: Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument - Florissant, Colorado is situated in the Rocky Mountains in western Teller County, the park is at 8,500 feet of elevation. The small community offers excellent recreation opportunities and is only 16 miles from the city of Woodland Park and 38 miles from Colorado Springs. The climate is pleasant featuring warm summers with cool evenings and higher altitude winters with 10-14 inches of average snow accumulation. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument was established in 1969 and set aside to protect one of the richest fossil deposits in the world. The park also protects massive, petrified redwood tree stumps. The park landscape features mountain meadows and rolling hills forested with ponderosa pine, spruce, fir, and aspen.
