Summary
This position is located in Ozark National Scenic Riverways, in the Maintenance Division. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately October-April, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
Major Duties
As a Maintenance Worker your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Performs repairs to buildings and quarters. Constructs, installs, repairs and replaces items such as doors, shelves,supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Uses both hand and power tools such as hammers, bars, handsaws, screw drivers, squares, skill saws, jig saws, routers, hand-held belt sanders and drills. Applies premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers. Paints various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces, and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets. Utilizes scrapers, sandpaper, steel wool, brushes, rollers, ladders, air and airless sprayers. Performs plumbing tasks such as replacing hose bibs, valves, nipples, unions and elbows, fixtures, toilets, flushvalves, faucets, and various types of pipe and copper lines. Patches and repairs roofs consisting of built up tar and paper, metal, as well as foam roofs and asphalt shingles. Patching consists of stopping leaks in historic and other buildings using materials which retain the original appearance without undue change in type of original construction. Performs electrical tasks involving making repairs that can be accomplished by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, and insulating defective wiring and fixtures. Builds and sets forms on projects of limited scope and difficulty such as sidewalks and steps which do not require precise measurements and involve only the setting of forms in straight lines. Performs masonry work of limited difficulty involving the maintenance, repair, construction, and/or stabilization of historic sites built of stone, mortar, or adobe and/or contemporary buildings, features or structures. Operates and performs operator maintenance on cars, trucks, and/or van and stake trucks to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work. May operate a dump truck to haul earth, gravel, sand, and similar materials and/or debris.
