Summary
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April - February, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: June 2026 with a NTE of February 2027.
Major Duties
Performs preservation trade work under the general supervision of a higher-graded employee or supervisor to restore, repair, and maintain historic structures and landscapes. Performs carpentry, plastering, painting, roofing, masonry, and related preservation work using standard methods and detailed instructions. Uses hand and power tools to measure, cut, fit, and assemble materials for the repair or replacement of historic building components. Prepares and finishes wood, plaster, and masonry surfaces with paints, stains, or coatings following established preservation techniques. Maintains tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and serviceable condition in accordance with standard trade practices.
