We are seeking acontractParalegal with an emphasisonreal estateto join our team. In this role, you willbe responsible forreviewing and redlining real estate documents, managing title commitments and relateddue diligencematerials, andassistingCounsel with research on real estate andproject developmentmatters. The position also drafts various intercompany real estate documents,facilitatesdocument recording, and performs notarization duties. This role supports the Legal department in ongoing strategic initiatives and other assignments as needed.
This role will be based out of our Chicago office and is subject to our Company’s return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed review and redline of various documents and legal instruments (with primary focus on real estate documents) to assist with project development, financing, and operations as needed.
- Review title commitments, coordinate with title company, draft legal descriptions for documents to be recorded, and assist with various matters of due diligence related to title work including (but not limited to) management of title commitments and policies, and archiving title commitments and policies.
- Assist Counsel in researching specific real estate issues, and occasional research related to general project development.
- Assist with and facilitate recording memoranda.
- Draft intercompany real estate assignments, amendments, terminations, extensions, exerciseoptions,lettersand memoranda.
- Notarization duties – should be a registered notary that can assist with in-person notarization by officers and other personnel as needed.
- Support the Legal department in strategic initiatives and various other work as may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’sdegree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business, or related fieldpreferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate, legal support, or a similar role.
- Strongproficiencyin reviewing, drafting, and redlining legal documents and real estate instruments.
- Working knowledge of title commitments, surveys, legal descriptions, and other real estate due-diligence materials.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze real estate issues and summarize findings clearly.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, especially when managing multiple documents and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, outside counsel, and third-party vendors
- Ability to work independently while supporting a fast-paced legal or project-development environment.
