How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Compliance Project Manager II, you’ll operate independently to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects while expanding client relationships and driving new business. You’ll play a key role in growing Dudek’s presence by identifying new opportunities, leading competitive proposals, and guiding interview teams to win work. This role blends strong project delivery with strategic thinking, allowing you to shape project portfolios, mentor staff, and influence market growth. You’ll also bring a deep understanding of industry trends to position Dudek for continued success across sectors and geographies.
You will lead environmental compliance programs supporting complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects. This role will serve as a key partner to clients and project teams by guiding compliance strategy, managing environmental commitments, and ensuring successful implementation of permit conditions throughout the project lifecycle.
You will lead compliance efforts for projects including utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and linear infrastructure, and other renewable energy developments, coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This position combines project management, client engagement, and technical leadership to help projects move forward efficiently while maintaining regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.
This position will primarily be office-based. There will be opportunities for field work and travel, but the majority of the work will be completed in Dudek’s office or working from a home office. Hybrid candidates near one of our California offices preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as project manager for large, complex, multidisciplinary projects with
increasing scope and impact - Lead and manage project execution, including scope, schedule, budget, and
quality control - Build and maintain strong relationships with senior-level client representatives
- Identify and develop new client services, projects, and market opportunities
- Serve as proposal champion, leading competitive pursuits, coordinating teams,
and driving winning strategies - Guide proposal development and lead interview teams for complex submittals
- Manage and grow a portfolio of projects and/or on-call contracts across clients
and regions - Track and manage project financials, including budgets, forecasting, and revenue
performance - Drive revenue generation and support overall business development efforts
- Mentor and develop staff in project management fundamentals, financial
acumen, and technical growth - Provide oversight and review of work products to ensure quality and consistency
- Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) policies and
project-specific safety protocols - Promote a collaborative, high-performing team environment across disciplines
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, or other related field.
- A minimum of at least 12 years of combined experience leading teams in complex project due-diligence, large infrastructure project management, preparing permitting and environmental documents, managing, and supervising staff, and overseeing technical quality.
- Must demonstrate strong technical writing and research skills as well as solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be proficient in MS Office, in particular Word and Excel.
- Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.
- Self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow as a project team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in environmental science, planning, or related field
- Experience managing large programs or portfolios across multiple clients,
sectors, or geographies - Established network of client relationships and demonstrated success expanding
business opportunities - Familiarity with California energy market or utility client programs
- Professional licensure or certifications relevant to the role (e.g., PE, AICP, PMP)
- Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary proposals and high-stakes
interviews - Strong financial acumen with a track record of driving revenue growth and
profitability - Demonstrated experience leading internal initiatives such as process
improvement, mentoring programs, or practice development
Compensation: $145,000-$190,000 annually*
*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.
Working Conditions
- This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
- This job requires occasional project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.
