Reporting to the AIM Recycling Ontario Environmental Regional Manager, the EHS Advisor works closely with Regional Managers, Branch Managers, and AIM Recycling EHS teams to plan, organize, coordinate, and oversee environmental, health, and safety initiatives. This role supports corporate objectives while preventing workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, and environmental incidents across the Ontario Kenny U-Pull sites.
What you're responsible for:
- Supporting the continual development of the EHS culture with all Branch Managers and employees
- Advising, collaborating, and supporting Branch Managers regarding related strategical EHS initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools
- Performing regular inspections of workplaces, work practices, and environmental controls to ensure that safety and all EHS regulatory requirements are respected
- Performing occupational risk analysis on various aspects of operations and proposing preventive measures to ensure success
- Occasionally responding to and supporting after-hours incidents, emergencies, and community or regulatory complaints, ensuring timely resolution, regulatory reporting and follow-up
- Conducting incident investigations and utilizing root cause analysis to determine preventive measures in collaboration with managers and EHS partners
- Supporting and auditing the adequacy and effectiveness of EHS preventive measures
- Participating and collaborating with regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations, MOL, MECP, Fire Dept., etc.)
- Responding to employees and internal / external customers’ environmental, occupational health and safety information requests
- Planning and performing internal trainings sessions and monitor completion of mandatory EHS trainings
- Tracking and reporting on various EHS metrics and key indicators
- Conducting and assisting with orientation sessions for new hires and participate in on-boarding activities as required
- Supporting the rollout of corporate/EHS programs, policies, and other initiatives
- Advising site Health and Safety Committee
- Performing other related tasks related to EHS duties, as assigned
