The Opportunity
This is a hands-on opportunity to build a solid career in metal recycling as part of our Metal Recycling Yard Crew. Whether you are just getting started, already experienced with heavy equipment, or bringing leadership skills from other industrial settings, we have roles where you can contribute and grow.
You will work in an active scrap yard environment, helping to sort, move, and process metal safely and efficiently. As you prove yourself, you can take on more responsibility, operate more complex equipment, and step into lead and supervisory roles over time.
What You'll Do
- Sort and grade incoming metal materials, learning to quickly recognize different metals and quality levels.
- Load and unload materials using manual labor, forklifts, and other yard machinery, keeping material moving through the yard.
- Support daily yard operations by organizing materials, staging loads, and keeping traffic and workflow moving safely.
- Assist customers with weigh-ins, basic questions, and providing quotes, delivering friendly and efficient service.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard by following safety procedures, housekeeping standards, and equipment guidelines.
What Success Looks Like
- Within your first few months, you reliably show up on time, follow instructions, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- You learn core metal types, yard procedures, and safety practices, and can sort and handle materials accurately and efficiently.
- You contribute to smooth yard operations by keeping your work area organized, communicating clearly with your team, and helping maintain a safe environment.
- As you gain experience, you take on new responsibilities such as operating equipment, managing material flow, or helping guide less experienced team members.
What We're Looking For
- Comfort working outside in all seasons and doing physically active, hands-on work in an industrial yard.
- Reliable, safety-conscious team players who follow directions and take pride in doing the job right.
- Experience in labor, construction, recycling, or operating forklifts/heavy equipment is a plus, but strong work ethic and willingness to learn are just as important.
- People who want more than just a job — who are interested in learning the metal recycling trade and growing with a family-owned company.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $16–$30 per hour, depending on experience and role.
- Family-owned, people-first culture with growth opportunities across multiple locations.
- Full-time employment.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM (extra hours available on Saturdays).
