Major Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Southeast Region, Office of the Superintendent, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky. At the full performance level (GS-14) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for planning, organizing and directing all programs and operations for the Park. Coordinates and directs implementation of division field operations, ensuring that work efforts and human and financial resources are focused on accomplishing priority objectives. Responsible for the management, leadership and direction of the workforce. Establishes performance standards, conducts performance appraisal reviews and provides leadership in the park's implementation of performance appraisal systems. Takes disciplinary actions and submits formal proposals for adverse actions to maintain an effective and efficient diversified work force. Manages the park operating budget and ensures coordination and accountability of budget management responsibilities delegated to the respective division chiefs. Helps determine distribution of funds, and reallocation of funds as necessary, to meet park core mission priorities. Manages inter-agency relations and cooperative agreements related to park operations. Serves as the Superintendent's representative in contacts and negotiations with other government entities (such as Federal, State, County and Municipal), property owners, and organizations and individuals interested in the operations and programs of the park and the National Park Service. Represents the park at various meetings with various interagency task groups, non-governmental organizations, and special interest groups. Manages the special park uses and lands programs. Salary Range Information (Per Annum): GS-14: $125,776 - $163,514 per annum *First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level.
