A leading construction and engineering project is seeking an experienced and highly organised Laboratory Administrator with a strong understanding of construction testing processes, site laboratory administration, and quality documentation control within civil, roadworks, concrete, asphalt, or materials testing environments.
The successful candidate must have the ability to manage laboratory administration functions while fully understanding construction testing tasks, sample tracking, reporting procedures, and compliance requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Diploma or Certificate in Administration, Civil Engineering, Quality Management, or related qualification advantageous
- Minimum 3–5 years experience within a construction laboratory or materials testing environment
- Strong understanding of:
- Concrete testing
- Soil compaction testing
- Asphalt testing
- Aggregate testing
- Cube testing processes
- Site sample management and tracking
- Knowledge of construction quality control procedures and laboratory standards
- Computer literate (MS Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience working with laboratory reports, test registers, and site documentation
- Strong administration and coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Valid driver’s licence advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all laboratory administration and document control functions
- Capture, update, and maintain laboratory test registers
- Ensure all test requests, samples, and results are accurately recorded
- Coordinate daily laboratory testing schedules with site teams
- Track construction material samples from collection to final reporting
- Compile and distribute laboratory reports to management and clients
- Maintain filing systems for test results, calibrations, inspections, and compliance documents
- Ensure laboratory records are audit-ready at all times
- Assist with quality control documentation and reporting
- Liaise with laboratory technicians, site supervisors, engineers, and clients
- Monitor outstanding test results and follow up accordingly
- Ensure all construction testing documentation complies with project and client standards
- Assist with timesheets, attendance registers, PPE control, and general site administration when required
- Support site quality assurance and quality control processes
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of all laboratory data
