POSITION OBJECTIVE

Join our Springbrook Nature Center team this Fall/Winter as a Seasonal Environmental Educator, where you’ll lead hands-on adventures, creative nature programs, and unforgettable outdoor experiences for participants of all ages. From caring for fascinating reptiles and amphibians to guiding hikes, crafts, games, and environmental explorations, every day brings a new opportunity to connect people with nature. Position dates: August 8, 2026 through March 5, 2027.
Summer Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Winter Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Typical schedule for this position is expected to be 40 hours per week. Schedule includes one weekend day per week.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop, conduct, and market environmental education curricula & programs including summer camp.
- Develop, conduct, and market other environmental education programming.
- Help to maintain exhibit animals including reptiles, amphibians, and insects.
- Organize and lead a variety of small group activities as developed by the Springbrook staff. Activities may include hiking, nature explorations, crafts, games, canoeing, archery, stream and pond hikes, and art and drama activities.
- Complete other assigned operational tasks before and after programs such as clean up and room preparation.
- Provide fun and engaging activities outdoors.
- Identify and respond to camper behavioral issues.
- Communicate with parents regarding campers' experiences and daily activities.
Other Job Function:- Respond to inquiries by telephone, email and in person concerning a broad spectrum of natural resource information.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in interpretive or summer camp programming with youth.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Natural Science, Environmental Education, or related field.
- Ability to be imaginative and innovative in programming with youth.
- Experience in care and programming of live animals.
