In Home Solutions we continue to expand our reach in solar and whole‑of‑home energy offerings and are now searching for additional experienced Residential Solar Design Engineer to join our Design Services team. With a strong pipeline of residential work across Auckland and beyond, there’s plenty to get your teeth into here. You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, technically excellent commercial solar designs.
You will…
Produce detailed solar energy system designs that meet technical, regulatory, and residential standards.
Collaborate with Product, Installation, Service, Sales, and wider Haier Group teams to ensure end‑to‑end quality outcomes for our residential customers.
Engage directly with project requirements—specifications, drawings, costings—and take ownership from design through to winning new work.
Support the continual improvement of our design processes and build our internal knowledge base.
What You’ll Work On…
Residential solar PV system design
Energy modelling, HVAC and hot-water system considerations
Detailed drawings, load calculations, ducting/piping system evaluations
Customer‑centric solution design aligned to our Home Solutions strategy.
You’ll be the design expert that our cross‑functional teams rely on — helping Installation, Service, Sales, and Product teams deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
Our ideal applicant
3+ years’ experience designing and/or installing solar systems (HVAC/hot water experience highly advantageous)
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
Strong understanding of AS/NZS standards (4777, 5033, 5139, 4509, etc.)
Knowledge of building codes and construction practices for residential
Confidence using solar and energy modelling software (e.g., SolarPlus, PVSyst, TRNSYS, Revit)
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
