12 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose
To deliver a high-quality environmental health and public protection service across the borough by enforcing environmental health legislation, undertaking complex investigations, and supporting the Councilâs corporate priorities. The Senior Environmental Health Officer will lead on specialist casework, provide expert advice to businesses and residents, and support the development of junior officers within the Environmental Health team.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements
- Hold an Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) approved qualification, such as an MSc, BSc (Hons), or Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by EHRB or REHIS.
- Be EHORB registered or have successfully completed the CIEH Assessment of Professional Competence, Assessment of Professional Development, or equivalent recognised pathway to Registered Environmental Health Practitioner status.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
- Strong experience within environmental health enforcement and public protection services.
- Sound knowledge of environmental health legislation and regulatory procedures.
- Experience managing complex investigations and enforcement cases.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and prosecution documentation.
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload effectively.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff is desirable.
