ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager of AR Operations to lead our Accounts Receivable function through a period of significant growth and system transformation. You will oversee a team of 7–10 professionals, driving excellence in collections, cash applications, and credit management.
The ideal candidate is a dual-threat leader who combines deep expertise in process optimization with hands-on systems experience. You will be the primary architect for scaling our AR operations, ensuring seamless transitions during our upcoming Oracle ERP implementation, and serving as a critical partner to our Revenue Accounting team as we evolve our billing models.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 7–10 AR professionals.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team productivity, DSO, and aging health; hold team members accountable for meeting collection targets.
- Standardize operational processes to ensure scalable, repeatable workflows, facilitating efficient onboarding and consistent service delivery.
Operations & Collections Excellence
- Oversee the end-to-end AR lifecycle, including cash application, invoice accuracy, and proactive collections.
- Manage complex collection disputes, specifically addressing PO/invoice discrepancies and facilitating resolution through direct customer engagement.
- Provide "high-touch" management for troubled or high-risk accounts, ensuring timely payments through relationship management and persistence.
- Drive the reduction of credit memos by identifying root causes in upstream invoicing and contract alignment.
Systems Transformation & Project Management
- Serve as a key thought leader and operational subject matter expert for the Oracle ERP go-live project.
- Collaborate with IT and Finance leadership to ensure accurate data migration and the successful design of new billing processes and invoicing templates.
- Lead the internal team through the transition, managing customer communication and queries regarding changes in billing formats and system updates.
- Support the ongoing Quote-to-Cash (QTC) project to sanitize Salesforce data, ensuring upstream data integrity reduces downstream invoicing errors.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with the Revenue Accounting team to support the shift from monthly billing to annual or paid-up-front contract structures.
- Develop and maintain real-time executive dashboards to provide leadership with clear, actionable insights into AR health and cash flow forecasting.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Experience: 8+ years in Accounts Receivable or Order-to-Cash operations, with at least 4+ years in a leadership/management capacity.
- Systems Proficiency: Demonstrated success in leading ERP implementations or major system migrations (Oracle experience highly preferred). Strong proficiency in Salesforce and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, or Excel dashboards).
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP revenue recognition and the Quote-to-Cash cycle.
- Soft Skills:
- Leadership: Ability to inspire and manage a diverse team; experience in process standardization and change management.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation and customer-facing skills; ability to navigate difficult conversations with troubled accounts.
- Analytical: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and root-cause analysis.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
