Summary
This position is located in Andersonville National Historic Site, in the Natural Resources Division. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and have the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately February to August, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
Major Duties
As a Horticulturist, you will perform the following duties: Develops sections of the resource management plan dealing with horticulture, landscape, vegetation and soil management. Develops and maintains liaison and working relationships with related individuals, groups, agencies and the public. Responsible for identifying, researching, planning treatment, preservation and maintenance of landscapes. Reviews designs, treats, stewards and monitors landscapes. Provides technical guidance for landscape management. Sets operational priorities, keeps records of maintenance activities, and evaluates effectiveness of landscape maintenance operation. Performs data collection, entry and quality control. Identifies research needs, prepares request proposals, and provides oversight for scientific and historic research proposals. Prepares management and scientific reports. Conducts plant inventories.
