The opportunity
Play a vital part in protecting and promoting the
health and wellbeing of the Hobsons Bay community as our new
Environmental Health Officer. Working as an authorised officer,
you’ll deliver a customer focused environmental health service,
ensuring compliance with public health legislation while partnering
with residents, businesses and agencies to create safe, healthy
environments. You'll part of a forward thinking team that supports
healthy environments and works collaboratively to protect and
enhance the wellbeing of our residents.
What you’ll be doing

Conducting inspections and assessments under food, public
health and environmental legislation
-
Investigating community complaints, incidents and
infectious disease notifications
-
Providing advice and support to businesses on food safety
and public health compliance

Monitoring swimming pools, spas and prescribed
accommodation for regulatory compliance

Acting as an authorised officer, contributing to projects
and service plan deliverables
What
you'll need to succeed
-
Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent) with
eligibility for professional membership

Some experience as an Environmental Health Officer or
similar regulatory role
-
Strong knowledge of environmental and public health
legislation
-
Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service
skills

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National
Police Record Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Candidates must also hold
a valid Victorian Driver's License.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or
hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working
rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment
process.
