Food Service Leader – Back of House Catering (Full-Time)

The Toledo Zoo is currently seeking a Food Services Leader - BOH Catering. This position coordinates activities and operations of all food service areas.
This position will supervise food preparation, train staff, and ensure top-notch customer service across catering, concessions, and restaurant areas. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role involves supervising food preparation, training staff, and ensuring excellent customer service.
The ideal candidate will oversee the daily operations of food service areas, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow. This role will lead and train staff in food preparation, monitor inventory, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. The role involves supervising part-time staff, managing cash handling, and supporting customer service initiatives. The candidate will collaborate with chefs and supervisors on product ordering, storage, and delivery schedule, operate various kitchen equipment, and communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and zoo staff. This position will adhere to all Toledo Zoo policies and OSHA regulations.
This position reports to the Executive Chef, is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over forty (40) in a work week.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Prefer degree in Food Services, Business, or related field and three to five years of experience in food service management, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Must possess required certification in food service sanitation.
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
