Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and validation of industrial power and control systems supporting Solarcraft’s integrated outdoor automation and energy solutions. This role leads electrical system design from concept through commissioning, including control panel development, solar and UPS integration, and battery backup systems. The Electrical Engineer collaborates closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and production-ready system designs that meet customer and operational requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support both new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute electrical system design from concept through production release and validation, including schematics, panel layouts, and power distribution design.
- Develop and design control panel layouts and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical; oversee panel build support and design documentation.
- Design and integrate industrial automation systems, solar power systems, UPS systems, and battery backup solutions.
- Perform electrical load calculations, power distribution analysis, and system validation testing.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NEC, UL, and internal engineering standards, including documentation and revision control.
- Partner with mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systems within final products.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to support design-for-manufacturability and efficient production workflows.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and field validation of electrical systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, cost efficiency, and product performance.
- Lead assigned projects or technical workstreams, including timeline coordination and cross-functional collaboration.
- Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and assist with customer technical inquiries as needed.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience in industrial power, automation, or control systems environments.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical (required); SolidWorks Electrical is a plus.
- Experience with control panel design and assembly.
- Familiarity with industrial integration companies or environments preferred.
- Strong communication skills and cross-team collaboration
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk within manufacturing environments as needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional travel may be required to support field validation or customer engagement.
