The Role
The Environmental Scientist takes on a leadership role within environmental projects by managing key tasks, performing advanced scientific analysis, and ensuring regulatory compliance. They work closely with clients, oversee fieldwork, and are responsible for the quality and completeness of data collection, interpretation, and reporting. These professionals are often involved in developing sampling plans, managing junior staff, and coordinating with regulatory agencies. They play a critical role in translating complex environmental data into clear, actionable recommendations. This position requires the ability to manage multiple environmental tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and apply technical expertise to support project delivery from initial assessment through permitting and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead specific environmental tasks and reporting
- Coordinate with clients and ensure regulatory compliance
- Oversee fieldwork and data collection efforts
- Prepare and review environmental documentation and permitting materials
- Mentor junior scientists and technicians
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders
- Assist in quality control by reviewing deliverables for accuracy and completeness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- 3–5 years of relevant environmental consulting experience
- Experience with wetlands delineation
- Experience with endangered species coordination
- Experience with Section 404/401 permitting
- Experience with Trout Buffer Waivers
- Experience with Environmental Assessments
- Experience with NEPA compliance
