Position Overview
The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is responsible for leading the organization's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and sustainability initiatives. The CSO drives the integration of sustainable business practices into corporate strategy, operations, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. This role ensures the organization meets regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and long-term ESG commitments while enhancing corporate reputation and business resilience.
Key Responsibilities
ESG & Sustainability Strategy

Develop and execute the organization's ESG and sustainability strategy aligned with corporate objectives.

Establish sustainability goals, targets, and long-term roadmaps.

Integrate ESG principles into business operations, investments, and decision-making processes.
Environmental Sustainability Initiatives

Lead initiatives focused on carbon reduction, energy efficiency, waste management, and climate resilience.

Develop strategies to reduce environmental impact and support net-zero objectives.

Monitor environmental performance metrics and sustainability benchmarks.
Social Impact & Corporate Responsibility

Drive diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), employee well-being, and community engagement initiatives.

Oversee corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs and social impact strategies.

Promote ethical business practices and stakeholder trust.
Governance & Compliance

Ensure compliance with ESG-related regulations, reporting standards, and frameworks.

Establish governance policies and sustainability reporting structures.

Collaborate with legal, risk, compliance, and audit teams on ESG governance.
ESG Reporting & Analytics

Oversee ESG disclosures, sustainability reporting, and impact measurement.

Ensure alignment with recognized frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and ISSB where applicable.

Develop dashboards and KPIs to measure ESG performance and progress.
Stakeholder & Investor Engagement

Engage with investors, regulators, clients, and external stakeholders on sustainability matters.

Communicate ESG initiatives, progress, and impact transparently.

Represent the organization in sustainability forums and industry discussions.
Sustainable Business Transformation

Collaborate with business units to embed sustainability into operations, products, and services.

Risk Management & Resilience

Assess environmental and social risks impacting business operations and investments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

12–15+ years of experience in sustainability, ESG, corporate responsibility, or related leadership roles.

Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and regulatory requirements.

Proven track record of implementing enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives.
